I Hate Apple, I Love Bananas!

Bugger! Yesterday I almost destroyed my precious (not anymore!) laptop into pieces!

I was composing an E-mail for my Aunt, when typing the keys from M to Z went berserk. At first I thought that maybe the keys of my keyboard got stuck from the residues from the erasers (that i use to clean/ remove the stains my laptop). Not more than 5 minutes of typing, the Z to M keys won't type at all! So, i restarted my laptop and guess what, i couldn't get pass the "Log In" section, which the Laptop ask for the password. Silly Me! I totally forgot that one of the keys for my password is one of the dead keys! So, it leaves me no choice but to have my laptop check at Apple Repair Center, here in San Juan.

@ Apple Repair Center:

Under 5 minutes, even less, the Tech Guy checked my laptop by opening the System Preference- Keyboard AND

This what Irritates me:
1. The Diagnose that was done is very simple. They could have taught me that over the phone, when i called Apple for help.
2. They want to charge me for 500 pesos for it.
3. Diagnose found was Keyboard Hardware Malfunction, which nor the user or way of handling the laptop causes the problem.

The only solution is to change the "Top Cover"., which COST me 5880 Pesos for the Top Cover and 1,500 Pesos for the Labor. And the spare parts is only granted 3 months Warranty. My Gosh! Its like buying a brand new iPod Nano! Its Expensive!

For exactly One year my MBW (MacBook White) is working on top condition, until one month after my expiration date. I should have bought the Apple Care that was offered to me last year! I never thought that I will encounter a Hardware Defect that was caused by simple zilch. Not to mention, the prize i have to pay.

Now as of the moment, I am using this "Silicone Keyboard" that I bought from CD-R King (cost me 399 Pesos ONLY) is my life saver.

Apple broke my heart :(

iPhone Nano?

There might be new iPhone!

A New iPhone is said to be launched this Holiday Season or in the year 2010. It said to be a diminutive version of the iPhone. I don’t know yet if it will be having the exact same spec’s of the original iPhone but it will be ¾ its size.

Rumor #1

For this Christmas Season, Apple is developing or has developed a smaller version, or a “slim down” version (as I like to call it) of iPhone. It was said that this iPhone Nano is for the Pay-as-you-go Market. Also, from the same source (GadgetTastic), not only iPhone Nano will be launched, an iPhone Shuffle might be included too.

Rumor #2

I read this info at MacLife Magazine. There are some new Gadgets that Apple is developing to be launched in the year 2010. One of the Gadget will be the iPhone Nano. It didn’t say much information of the iPhone Nano’s specs, except its size.

Other new Gadgets will be the Tablet and Glass Keyboard, which I will be posting soon.

NowPlaying App 1.0.1

On your MAC OS X…

Let's say you are working on your “Spaces 4” with Pages (or whatever you wanted to work on to), while iTunes is playing on “Spaces 1”. Suddenly iTunes is playing a song that you can’t remember who sang it or let's say, the Title of the song. This is where “NowPlaying” comes in handy. Instead of going to the “Spaces 4” to “Spaces 1” where iTunes is, “NowPlaying” will provide you a Song Title, Artist, and even Duration of the song being played right at your very own Menu Bar.

By installing “NowPlaying” it will automatically integrate Title/Artist/Duration into your Menu Bar, not taking up space on your Desktop. It’s a very simple app that give you a nifty additional add on to your iTunes features and it can save you time roaming from one “Spaces” to the other, especially if you have more than 4 Spaces.

Once again, NowPlayig App is available at Apple Site> Downloads>iPod+iTunes Section. Or click Here. Also, its for free!

Here are some Screenshots on how it basically works:

Genius & GimmeSomeTunes

I have discovered something cool with Genius of iTunes 8. For users who are fond of using iTunes as players, I'm pretty sure that you have discovered the superlative compilation of same genre of song groupings, which comes in list of 25, 50, 75, and 100 songs per Play List. The Genius works better if you have a iTunes Account for you album cover flows, which automatically upload the missing Album cover as long as the following song info are complete and correct: Name, Artist, Album.

Another cool thing with Genius, it not only limited with iTunes 8. For iPod Touch 2.0+ and iPhone (2.0+) 2G and 3G, Genius is also a Nifty Tool. You can create a Genius Play List of 25 songs and it can be save, edited, and deleted. So let say, next time you want to listen to the same genre of the song “Sugar, We’re Going Down”, all you have to do is play the song from your iPod Touch/ iPhone, tap once the screen and click Genius Logo and you got yourself a newly play list.

Now, check GimmeSomeTunes at Apple Website. This is an extended application for iTunes. It can work on MAC OS X 10.5 or higher. For WIN users, sorry but I'm not sure if this application works with OS 2000 or Vista, since I have religiously become a loyal MAC user. LoLz!

Here is the good news about this App:

Cover Albums
- Even with an account with iTunes, missing Album Covers should be uploaded automatically, but there are times when iTunes can’t process the Album Covers. I’m not sure what causes this, but I notice this prior to installing the GimmeSomeTunes application. Installing GimmeSomeTunes will solve this problem. It worked well with my Cover Flows. Now, I have almost completed all the Cover Albums I needed.

Song Lyrics
- Now this one is my favorite feature of the application. If you are fun with the application of TuneWiki of Cydia, you can now delete that app and sing-a-long your favorite song from your own very iPod list in your iPod Touch/ iPhone’s. With the Help of GimmeSomeTunes and Last FM (Register at Last FM site and add the info under GimmeSomeTunes>Pref’s>Last FM). You can upload lyrics of songs in your iTunes. Play the song at iTunes, open the “show lyrics” panel of GimmeSomeTune. When Lyrics is showed at the Lyrics window, the lyrics will be automatically saved at the “Info sheet/ Get info” of the song file. Don’t forget to Sync the songs or update your songs files from your iPods/ iPhone, before the lyrics will show. Using your iPod Touch/ iPhone play the song and tap the screen of the song being played and the lyrics will appear.

Screen Shot

Note: I have tried uploading lyrics with US Artist, almost everything works, even the newly released song (as long as its available for download at iTunes Store). With OPM Artist, as long as the Artist is listed under Last FM site, Album Covers and Lyrics are available, GimmeSongTunes will upload the Album Covers and Lyrics of Pinoy Albums. As of the JPop, KPop, or others, I have not yet to test.

Screen Shot

As of the Other Features of the GimmeSomeTunes:

Recently Played
- Can be set up with preferred number of recent played songs. Default is 5 # of songs last played.

Mini Controller
- I don’t think I need to explaine.

Appearance
- Setting preferred font style, size, and color for the Lyrics (only visible with Lyrics and iChat).

iTunes Control
- Play, Pause, Next/Previous Song, Toggle Shuffle, and Rating.

Once GimmeSomeTunes is installed it will appear in Applications and a “Note Icon” will be shown on the right top corner, beside the Wifi, Spaces, Bluetooth Icons.

Enjoy!
