Nifty Apps for iPhone

Here are some handy apps for iPhone version 2.0.

My personal front runner Apps.

WeDict

The app itself can be downloaded at iTunes. Don’t worry, its for FREE!
WeDict already contained WordNet 2.0 and English_Chinese Dictionary and a Thesaurus Dictionary can be added by Installing “English Thesaurus” at Cydia’s.

PowerTool 2.0
For one click Hard Respring, Soft Respring, Reboot (Restart Device), and Power Down/ Turning off iPhone. A useful apps for peep’s who SSH a lot.

AirSharing
What I love about this app. is that it can Store and Read .jpg, .xlsx, .pages, .cc , .rtfd, and .webarchive. It is also a nice storage for other immediate files. Can be downloaded at iTunes.

One Connect
The cuter version of IM+ for Yahoo Instant Messenger! Can be downloaded at iTunes.

Searcher
Hence the label. Unlike Quicksilver App (from Cydia) that can only search for contact names. Searcher on the other hand, looks thru Contacts, Notes, SMS, Events, Safari Bookmarks, and Safari History.

And finally, the latest one…

Stack
It works like “fan” at Leopard OS for Mac. The “Fan” can place as much as 5 apps, while the “grid” can hold more apps (I think a maximum of 8). You can have all the Apps at the Dock removed or place two of your favorite. It useful and very cute!

She wore a green dress

I have another wedding to attend too, which means another “dress dilemma” for me to figure out.

Initially, I was supposed to just buy a “White Eyelet Dress” from one of my favorite local brand, Bayo. It was a white cotton, spaghetti, knee length dress I saw last Sunday at Festival Mall. I didn’t buy it right away thought, cause

1. At Festival Mall, the shop was closing up, and it is a must for me try on clothes before I purchase it.
2. The branch at ATC Mall aka Alabang Town Center, ran out of my size.

Next shop for me to check was PRP. I found nothing special about this shop. It was more of “convenience”, since the shop was right beside Bayo. Scanning through the ranks of clothes, I saw this bright Emerald Short Satin Dress. I spotted the dress from behind. The color got my attention. It was the right touch of green and has the right shine of satin. It was perfect, well, almost, if it wasn’t just that short.

My Achie will have a dress made for the wedding. I went with her at the shop, and there she spoke to this gay guy named “Maica”. Assuming where the name “Maica” might have originated, I’m guessing his real name must be “Michael”. Just pondering there for a moment. Anyways, “Maica” suggested a couple of style for my Achie’s dress. The choice of my Achie’s style is beautiful. I think this style will fit her very well. With all the “yakididakdak” of designs, styles, and materials, I got inspired by the “dress talk”, and decided to have a dress made for myself too.

I have a style printed in my head. I was trying to explain it to “Maica”, but I don’t think he was getting it. So, from the magazine at the table, I scan the pages and pointed out a dress, almost similar to the one in my head. He drew the sketch, wrote down the type of materials that I’ll be using and length of yards that he will be consuming to make my dress turn into life- metaphorically speaking of course.

That same day we went to purchase the materials an hour before Carolina’s Store will be closing. Achie picked a mauve colored lace and a violet satin for her choice. I ,on the other hand, wanted a canary yellow color for my dress, but I guess, canary yellow is not that big this season, so I chose green. Now, my favorite color is not green, in fact it is sunshine yellow. But when it comes to formal dresses, I always end up choosing dresses with green color in them. I dunno why, maybe the next time I write about it, probably I will know the answer by then.

The next day when we brought the materials for our dresses to dressmaker, on the process of it, I changed my mind with the style of my dress.

Let’s pause for a moment and take a look at my design preferences:

I have not yet discussed with Maica about my choices, but he already knew that I want to change the design. I really hope that my first choice will be “the one”. You see, it will all depend on the material that I have already bought. I have no other choice now but to use the material or it will just go to waste, and I don’t want to spend anymore with new sets of garments. Its not like I have a lined-up weddings to attend to, and considering me, kuripot, I don’t want (anymore) to spare cash to another dress and let this “green dress” linger for the next event, which might be next year = Walana sa MODA.

I’m still on the verge of my “dress dilemma”. So, watch out for my next post cause I will be showing off the Green Dress in 2D form.

Till Then! <3

P.S.
Remember the song of LFO?
“The girl with the green dress,
She took my breath away”

When I first got my iPhone, I was in version 2.0.2. That version has a lot of applications to offer, from customizing “Themes”, adding “productivity” apps, and maximizing the “utilities”. One thing that I noticed when I had a lot of applications installed/ changes at my iPhone, was the slow response of the iPhone when prompt to “Contacts” or launching the “Keyboard”. I was beginning to worry that the Version 2.0.2 was a little buggy. Then a new version arises!

Jailbreaking/ Upgrading to version 2.1 was a little tricky. Since we know that Apple made iPhones in such a way that (Point of view ko lang), “no two iphones are alike”. I spent the whole afternoon till the wee hours in the Morning, on a weekday tinkering my iPhone. I downloaded the following items:
-- Pwnage Tool
-- QuickPwn 1.1
-- BL-39
-- BL-46

Saved all in one folder in my MacBook, “crossed finger”, hoping the files were compatible for my upgrading.

I tried over and over, till I lost count from 5th time repeating the same procedure.
Luckily, my officemate Roxy was upgrading her iPhone as well. I seeked help from her at YM. First time try of Roxy’s upgrade, WALA! It worked for her! One time shot, and she were able to upgrade her iPhone! I got scared! Thought that the software that I download were not compatible with my iPhone (as of that time- That’s the only software available). Ito lang pala, Roxy upgrade her OS to 10.5.5 ver. (the latest OS version for Mac) before she upgraded her iPhone. So, I patiently waited for my MacBook to upgrade, which took a millennium to complete the installation, then rebooted my MacBook.

My New Toy

I have no plan of buying it this year. I thought that I was determined to be buying it next year, sort of a Christmas gift to myself. I was keeping the “idea” that, next year, most likely the market price will drop and less glitch to worry about with the software.

But I couldn’t wait for next year. Hahaha!

So, I got my very own iPhone!

Mine is not the latest one, I own an 8GH iPhone, currently with a version 2.0.2. The 3G iPhone’s cost a fortune and I don’t find the price reasonable enough for me to shed out. Anyways, I don’ think that I’ll be using the 3G, since I’m subscribed under Globe Telecom and the I’ve been hearing a lot of complains regarding the EDGE subscription- That the Globe EDGE users are being charge for internet fees that they weren’t aware of. Also, I’m not the techie type who does excruciate stuff to the iPhone to learn its anatomy. In other words, I’m not that iPhone crazy. LOL

Since I got my iPhone, it’s keeping me busy! Busy downloading apps from Cydia. You see, I am fond of customizing. Experimenting the different customized interface of my iPhone (I loooove the sound of it). I customized mine from the Signal Bar, to the Center Clock, to the Wifi Signal Bar, to the Font colors, the Slider, the Txt bubbles, and of course the personal Text Tones and Ring Tones. I’m also downloading more apps at iTune Stores. They have about 35 pages of free apps for iPhone.

My personal favorites from iTunes Store are:

REMOTE

IM+

Tap Tap Revenge

Wack A Gopher

Sol Free Solitaire

So from now on, I’ll be blogging (too) about iPhone stuffs.

P.S.
2G iPhone is phased out.
For friends who do not have iTunes account here is a site –Click ME-

Thanks to Applei for this post.

Thanks!!!

To the peep’s that is deciding to buy the 3G iPhone, here is a chart (below), to help you to decide better.

Good Luck!

Salad Days & Moksha

For the very longest time (since I stated my blogging), I wanted to blog about my weekend busyness. Unfortunately my weekend life doesn’t bring enough bash for me to write about. Going back to my “used to be life”, I veer into the “Wheels of Happenings”. Well, at least I have more topics that I can discuss about. My life before was something else. Before I used to dress myself with snazzy outfits, do my hair and make-up and be in the Vogue camaraderie. It was once my salad days, where I was free from the demands of boyfriends and work. All I got to worry was keeping up my good grades, fixations on narcotics (which I only used less than 5 counts), and some other naughty conducts (that I shouldn’t mention of). Being young does have its privileges, like a window of opportunities to do silly stuff that are fun, thrilling, those-where-the-days, to remember. A Nostalgia of congenial, fantastic, and undomesticated memories, My Memories! I love to turn back time and relive that part of my life all over again.

Enough reminiscing.

This is my typical weekend after all that.

Latest iPod Nano

Apple will be launching its next next generation iPod for 2008. Although at the main Apple Page, no new news or whatsoever is being mentioned regarding the upcoming iPod.

I guess it is a surprise!

Rumors has it:
- The latest iPod will be launched later this year.
- The latest iPod is a revamp of the next generation of iPods, to be inclined with the iTouch/ iPhone models.
- The prices of the next iPod will be lower, hence the price reference point of the 3G iPhones.

LATEST IPOD

• The screen of the latest iPod will be longer (almost the same as iTouch).
• The screen will have a concave design.
• The body will be slimmer, compared to the chunky iPod Nanos, and it will have more of a rounded body structure.
• Click wheel, not touchscreen.

Plus: iTunes will be having its “big” update- iTunes 8.0 with new features and will support Blue-Ray.
